[Closed] Any known problems with Kenda UST tyres reacting to Wheel milk sealant ?

I really fancy trying some Kenda Dred tread tyres tubeless but have heard that they seem to corrode if using certain sealants (Stan's for one).

Its by no means just Kenda's that have this problem, have read a few threads with many manufacturers tyres doing the same thing.

Just wanted to know if anyone had any problems (or run successfully) Kenda tyres with 'Wheel Milk' sealant ?

Cheers

Michael

Kenda recommend against it but I've had Stans in various Kendas for well over a year now, all spot on. I can't recall ever hearing from anyone who actually had a problem with this, a few "A mate did this and they DIED" but no real examples.

I've run Kenda ust tyres with bontrager super juice in them for 2 years and not had a problem.

As I understand it, the issue was one of de-laminating tyres which was a manufacturing fault. You'd never know it running a tube, it one shows with sealant. It's not the sealant that causes it but it is the sealant that highlights it. Shouldn't happen on UST tyres though.

I have had a delaminated High Roller UST in recent times, so its not restricted to 'normal' tyres.

A couple of years ago I used wheel milk with some Blue Grooves. It was fine for about 6 months, but then I tried to change tyres. The sealant had partially dissolved the inside of the tyre and left it incredibly sticky - so much so the tyre stuck to itself and I couldn't get it off. I ended up cutting it off. I have subsequently switched to Stan's and haven't had the same problem with a Nevegal. Don't know if it's the different sealant or Kenda have changed the rubber inside their tyres.

uummmm, may just have to go for it and see for myself then.

It is worrying though when you read these stories of peoples tyres developing massive bulges in the side walls and having to throw them away before they've even done many miles.

I've not had any problems so far with either Panaracers or Conti Rubber Queens while using Wheel Milk.
