as per title really. drivetrain on e-bike is near dead, so looking at swapping out the sram GX that came with the bike for shimano linkglide. to avoid having to get the specific tool to extract the crank and change the chain ring, any issues with running shimano 11 spd chain on a sram 12 spd chainring that people know of?
I have the same question as have 11 speed XT linkglide on order and have a SRAM Eagle 12 speed chainring currently. The LG chain is 10/11 speed compatible so wondering if too wide to mesh properly with a 12 speed chainring.
If you’re not already running a steel chainring I’d change it - but I’m pretty certain all that 10, 11 and 12 speed chains are the same internal width, it’s just the outer plates and thus total width that vary.

now you mention it, i have some vague memory of reading internal width of 11 & 12 speed chains are the same width, so there should be no issues on meshing as it were.
i know that the shimano 12 speed quick links didn't work as well with sram chain rings as the sram qucik links di, so guessing it would be similar with linkglide as i'm pretty sure the linkglide chains aren't actually that different form the normal 11sp shimano chains?
Yeah, I read that and will try a SRAM quick link on the LG chain
Internal dimensions of 11 & 12 speed chains are the same so 12 will run on 11 no issues.
12spd chain is narrower on the outside so 11 spd chain is too wide for the 12spd cassette but fine for chainring.
I found 12spd chain on 11spd way nicer as the narrower chain made it all that bit quieter!
Flipside is to get narrower outside means thinner plates so technically not as strong.
