I'm going to take the plunge and finally go tubeless.
Obviously I'd buy the kit from my LBS if it hadn't shut down a few months ago 🙁
So as I have no LBS, I'm stuck with online shops, are there any deals to be had? Hargroves have the kit (standard) for £44, anything any better?
Roll of tape, valve and some fluid? Can't be that much
Hope Tubeless kit is £20 at CRC, 2 valves, roll of tape and 2 bottles of Stans.
Is it worth using a rim-strip with a valve, or just a valve on its own?
I'm using DT 5.1 rims, with Bonty XR4 tyres (not tubeless-ready)
I am just in the process of doing the same.
Front one done and successfully ridden 16 miles on Tuesday.
To keep costs down I would suggest the following:
1, Valves from Superstar components=£7
2, Tape from superstar =£7
3, Stans fluid = £13 from most places if you ask!
I guess the advantage of doing it with the tape is that it should be good for about 4-5 wheels and the fluid should do the same.
There is also something that seems wrong to me in using the rim strip with the valve in as surefly it is almost the same (weight) as an inner tube?
Anyway, hope this helps........no probs so far!
Right, Eclipse tubeless kits and Stans sealant purchased.
That should do...
I find that after a while the valves break off, or when you get a trail side puncture/rip that will not seal having a separate valve means you can stick a tube in without removing the rim strip.
