"Local collection only." I have seen a bike I have been after for ages, spec/price/colour even are all perfect. But Kent to Aberdeenshire is a bit of a trek even when it becomes unlockdowned. Can anybody suggest a courier that will collect and deliver without adding "character" to the bike ( You can sit down at the back paisley freight!)

I think I used DHL but paid less as I went through a compare the market type front end

But you'll need a box and they'll need to take it apart. If it's possible it will be very expensive

Whats the matter with paisley freight? I used them a fortnight ago. APC picked it up a few days later, it got delivered with no issues whatsoever.

+1 for paisley freight (aka bikedelivery.co.uk). Only used it once but everything went well. I think £25 for delivery or £50 for delivery and bike box. Used it to sell a bike - buyer arranged it, they dropped the empty box off on Tuesday, picked the packed bike up on Thursday and delivered on Friday. Came exactly when they said. I'd use them again

same here with paisley. couldn't be beaten for convenience and cost. bike in good nick at the end of its journey. obvs seller will have to spend time packaging the bike and that needs to be done well to avoid things going wrong I guess.

I used them about 5 years ago, both to send and receive a bike/frame. Neither went smoothly, but just looked and their feedback is a lot better now than back then.

Just sent 2 packages with them, one got there fine and I've not heard any complaints about the other.

Your seller will need a box and be willing to pack it though, I suspect that will be the major stumbling block unless they have an LBS that offers a packing service.

For the little amount of hassle it actually is people clearly have too much money if they can afford to cut out 99% of the market.

Just on that point I wouldn’t want to post a bike - too risky for me tbh (I do sell stuff on eBay but not frames or whole bikes). Risk of damage / couriers not getting signatures and being very busy at the moment is a recipe for disaster. Bikes are selling so well I think ‘collection only’ is working.

I recently sold a Carrera I’d paid £80 for and then upgraded the brakes and drivetrain to the point it owed me £200 (hybrid for putting a kids seat on - but my little girl wasn’t keen and just wants to ride her balance bike so I thought I’d get rid). Collection only on FB - got £340 for it and it went the day after I advertised it.

If I’d put local collection only I wouldn’t be planning to pack it up and courier it.
