I'm off camping with family this weekend (the lakeside site at Llangower) and might be able to get a few hours (or a day) out on the bike if I try.
Any recommendations?
Is there anything to warrant taking a FS over a HT?
There's a downhill course somewhere isn't there?
Rocky, droppy, technical singletrack descents would be nice but I suspect there's none of that. I'd be delighted to hear that I've got that wrong, please.
What y' got?
The DH course is a no-no except on Pearce uplift days as far as I'm aware.
You're not far from some trail centres...
We camped there recently - managed to sneak a few trips to CYB. Only 20-30 min drive
There is loads of decent riding round there.
Check out www.ridetheclwyds.com for some routes
Take an o/s map with you and just get out and ride, some stunning scenery in the area and you don't have to go too far before you loose the crowds of tourists. Alternatively, if it's guaranteed tech singletrack you're after, Coed y Brenin is just up the road.
Coed y Brenin is not too far away as is either the Marin Trail at Betws y Coed or Penmachno. I would take my full suss over HT, some may say HT for Penmachno.
No more then a half hour drive for some top riding.
Thanks all,
Yeah, CYB was my fallback plan. I suppose it's been a few years since I've been so I'll possibly end up revisiting it but would prefer some natural 'tech if it's out there.
Davesmate has the spirit of it.
Binners, Clwyds is heading back homeward for me from there and somewhere that's reachable as a single day outing so I'd probably save that for another time, but yeah you're right, there's some reasonable stuff around there.
Marin, Penmachno & Snowdon all subject of a separate weekend trip (once the ban 's over).
Any more?
Cheers
