Looking for 29x2.1 or 2.2, light, something with a bit of a centre line like say Crossmark.

£28 for them is the best I've found so far.

Do you want the centre line for some specific reason, or were you just looking for something that rolls well?
Because yes Crossmarks have the centre line, but no they don't roll well (for an XC tyre)

More wear resistance than rolling well. I have this idea that fewer thinly spaced knobs will take more load on tarmac and hence wear out. This is for local riding mostly which always includes road.

How do we rate Spesh ground control? Ok so not much of a centre line but they are cheap.

GC is a good tyre IMO, but I haven't ridden loads of other XC rubber to contrast with.

Ground Control is a good bet, front and / or back.

CRC had a load of WTBs in their sale, you might find something you like?
