My build budget is spiralling and rather than fit a heavy £40 BB to get my hussfelt cranks that i had lying around... i may as well get a new lighter setup. Have £100 to spend... anyone seen any good deals for 1x9??
Is this a good deal for a shimano xt m761
Im presuming this will be fine if i just remove the big and small chainrings to run it 1x9??
I'm pretty sure the m761 cranks are not quite the same as normal m760 XT. Because they are designed with the larger chainrings in mind they have a wider axle to space the crank out a bit further. I only know this because people have used them in the past as a lightweight DH crank because the wider axle means they can be squeezed into a 83mm BB frame rather than your normal 68/73mm. Using them on a normal 1x9 single ring would be 'ok', but you would have a wider q factor and the middle ring would be slightly further out than desired.
just ordered a M660 SLX from rose bikes for 63 quid plus a bit postage. 9 spd triple or doulbe with bash

Merlin have SLX triples for about £85.
I've got a set of some Race Face Next SL carbon cranks that I'm looking to get rid of. Light and bling, and you could run them with a single ring.
Drop me a mail if you're interested.
Went with the race face respond for £51.89
Thanks for that.. left me some spare cash for the chain guide i want
