Looking at a swift as the next N+1

I am just under 6ft - my current rides 26" with 585mm top tube and another 29er with a 605mm top tube.
I fall right into the gutter between the two sizes, makes a change from the gutter between pubs.... After a nimble singletrack machine.

No singulars around here...yet

I threw my leg over a Med and Large el mariachi - they have very similar geometry. I could go either way, but for a more flickable feeling and closer to my current 26er the medium stood out. ( in the carpark). The large felt more slightly less nimble.

The medium had a 110mm stem which is longer than I would accept. Mind you is was a mechanics bike. Also he and zero set back on the seatpost and riser bars. I just forgot it was a 29er- which is the way it should be?
The stem was flat on the frame though which I didn't like. Mind you it was with a 100mm travel fork so the whole front end was up there.

So I think I can slot into a medium and make it fit longer or a large and make it fir shorter. My standover is 870 and the new swift geo is 820mm on the large and 796mm on the medium

The short questions is - am I better to make a frame longer or shorter if you know what I mean.

I'm just under 6ft and on Sam's advice I went for a large swift. Run an 80mm stem, flat bars with 5 deg of backsweep and an inline post. Fits just fine. No idea of measurements but rode a medium soul and hustler previously which both felt a little cramped.

I'm 6' 3'' and run a large Swift with a 100mm stem.

Spot on for me.

I would have thought a large would be fine too.
