Another Mavic Wheel...

I have just taken delivery of a new set of Mavic XA Elite wheels and according to the blurb they are supposed to come with a rear wheel with 12x142 (convertible to quick release).
I put tires and rotors on and then realised that the rear is in fact 135 and requires spacers to make them fit the dropouts. Surely 142 is the standard fit of the hub into the frame?

Any ideas?

All wheels that are convertible between 135 and 142 will use spacers/end caps. How else do you you think it would work?

Maybe but I wasn't asking which wheels shall I buy.
It all depends on what you want from them. I'm 60 and lol means nowt to me.

So to the previous reply all Mavic MTB wheels come as modular items adaptable to different frames then. Thank you.

did they not come with any end caps? i'd contact the seller to ask why they weren't included.

pretty sure this is the part you'll need: https://shop.mavic.com/en-gb/rear-axle-adapters-oc0672.html#1040=3527

that's what the ones on mine looked like.

Thanks for that.
I've got QR adapters and something else that is no use to me but I'll be on to them tomorrow.

ipaulog, forgive the slightly satirical replies,I see your a pretty new forumite!

Posters here can be a little full on sometimes but the knowledge base here is unparalleled.

Hope you get the wheels sorted mate,I would be a little irritated myself but I suspect it'll be an easy fix.👍

So the wheel has 135mm adaptors on and you have a second set of QR {135mm} adaptors?

Seems odd. Are you sure your bike isn't 148mm rear spacing (boost)?

With the Elite's you should have the QR adaptors and red caps which are the 142x12 adaptors, without the adaptors they are 135x12. The Elite's are a pretty good wheel, I like mine 🙂

Yes the XA Elites arrived plain 135 X 12 with QR and some other adapters. The correct ones will be with me soon and all will be ok.

My apologies OP!

My fingers were letting off steam and any chance to slag the big M’s factory built shite pringles.

Hopefully they have sorted this out these days...

Yeah stick around as stw is a real wealth of knowledge on “most” issues.

And boy don’t we have issues 🤪
