Right, since I am now into my 23rd year and therefore basically an old man, I've developed a dicky right ankle - it's a bit of a mess, fairly weak and I keep rolling over on it/ spraining it in a minor way.
So, can STW recommend me a good ankle brace for general bikey use? There must be plenty of knackered ankles out there. Any hot tips?
Cheers.
See a sports physio - or two.
Get an 'Aircast' brace and a wobble board.
Sounds like you need some strengthening exercises for it. As suggested above go see a sports physio.
broke my foot playing football by turning ankle
I bought an ankle support that has little plastic ribs down the side and laces and it was great for extra ankle stability.

I only used it for a coupe of rides - PM me if you want to buy it
Strengthen it, do balancing exercises,
....then have a ligament reconstruction operation.
Having tried various types over teh years, I use one of these Mueller Soccer Braces on my dodgy ankle:

It has stainless springs down the sides and gives a good combination of support and thin-ness
661 do similar to the above but with removable 'armor' strips that support the ankle either side

Get some gymnastic tape (climbing shops etc) and stick a piece from just above your ankle bone, over the bone and just round into the instep (you my have to run a razor over your calf or removal will be sore!). Works really well and has no bulk.
I had an ankle like this that got so bad I had it fused 2 years ago.
Pain killers are your friend........
