Chaps... And this is really aimed exclusively at chaps!

Do you wear underpants under your liners? So three layers, pants, liners, baggies...

Or do you skip on the underpants?!?

Genuine question as I've always done the 3 layer thing but I've been advised by mates that the whole point of the liner is that you don't need underwear....

A liner just doesnt feel like it'll be supportive enough...

No. That's crazy talk.

What sort of "support" pants do you sell?

No. The chaffing doesn't bear thinking about.

Nope. Never. No pants under lycra.

Sweaty, chafy, bacteria-rich crotch is not a good thing!

Oh... Well, looks like I've been doing it all wrong for the last few years ๐Ÿ™„

I'm going for a ride in about an hour... Let's see how this pans out!

3 layers?
2 is the maximum allowed under STW regulations ๐Ÿ˜‰

No, no and sometimes.

Would prefer not to but if I know the ride is going to be a mud bath I'll keep my under crackers on. I can then strip down to my pants in the kitchen without upsetting the neighbours too much.

If you've always done it, and its not a problem, then on you go.

feeling painful just thinking about it.

and edit

I can then strip down to my pants in the kitchen without upsetting the neighbours too much.

You either need to discover curtains or stop letting your neighbours into your kitchen.

What's with the liners?

I just wear proper lycra cycling shorts - 1 layer is all you need.

No

One layer is all that is needed.

Two acceptable if you don't like showing your nodger (a self aware cyclist!!)

Three - more likely to lead to "ouch" + not necessary

It's been on my list for about 2 years. Every time I do it I then remember 'must get around to fitting some blinds'

Those wearing underwear, do you smear chamios cream on your pants??

Or apply it to the chamios then put your pants underneath?

*confused*

I'd only keep my keggs on if the ride is less than 2-3 hours. Much more and it would be unbearable.

Just to be different - I wear nike combat pro undershorts under my cycling shorts. I previously used to wear nothing. As they are tight and lycra they don't rub and wick sweat away from skin.

I actually got the compression underwear for running and other sport where I didn't want my tackle flapping about, but tried them under my cycling shorts and they are fine - plus my, more expensive cycling shorts get less, ahem, directly, err, bodily contact.

I've never had to use Chamois cream - so that isn't an issue for me.

I know I fail the cyclist test wearing any form of undershort, sorry.

Eh? So you wear these...

[img] [/img]

UNDER padded lycra cycling shorts??

Do you wear baggies on top to complete the sweaty hell?

plus my, more expensive cycling shorts get less, ahem, directly, err, bodily contact.

But your expensive cycling shorts presumably have an expensive pad that has been carefully designed to be directly against your body and to flex, wick, breathe, be hygienic and not shift about or bunch up.

Why would you put something else in there? It's like buying a luxury soft sofa, but leaving the cellophane on "to keep it good".

The ones I've got are not like that (and I don't just mean they are not dayglo orange), much thinner than lycra shorts or mtb short liners.

Hey it works for me - but I know it makes me a failure as a cyclist and a man!

If it works for you then cool - I just don't understand the logic of buying "more expensive cycling shorts" and then slipping a pair of cheap liners between them and your skin.

You've spent that money to get shorts that have good breathable antimicrobial anatomical padding and other comfort features like flatlock seams, seamless panels etc, so it just seems a bit odd to then spend more money to add something in-between that negates most of those features.

Are you the same Rob G Clarkson that used to have a baby blue golf?

This is not a thinly veiled euphemism regarding the state of your undercarriage.

I just wear normal boxers under baggies, never liked chamois and never found any need or benefit from them. Though it's always possible I'm now as sterile as a mule.

Try getting changed in your own kitchen.

(Late I know, but one of the earlier posters really should have thought of it.)

Dubmarines from back in the day, I'm one of the reprobates that went and formed F6 Squared. Still mates with all the F6 lads, not seen most of the DM crowd for a few years.
