got the 2 cups in the frame, and top cap and little nylon washer
is that it, no expander on the steerer tube like other headsets?

cheers, ive had it on 3 bikes, but got it in my mind there should be a expander wedge!

The newer ones do have a tapered collet. The older ones just a top bearing cap with an o-ring in it. There is talk of the early set up not working very well with long travel forks.

You should have a steerer cap, bearing top cap and split ring (old style was a solid bearing top cap with rubber o-ring)
Scroll about half way down and it has a diagram showing the different components on the newer version.
