Had the Alfine on my Scandal since March and it's been great. On the first few laps at SITS it started slipping gears when I applied pressure (usually when climbing) though. Any ideas why this is happenning or what I can do to prevent it?
Switched to another bike after 4 laps for comfort reasons but haven't ridden the Alfine since.
Thanks in advance.
you have the yellow lines lined up in the circled gear right ? - sorry if im teaching you to suck eggs !
also clean cables ? - if it cant release freely due to stuck cables then it will sit between gears ....
That is usually the yellow dots as tr says up there.
Also...your chain ok for wear on the chain ring? If not engaging properly it will hissy fit.
My top and bottom sets of yellow dots dont both lieen up at the same time,I use the bottom one for bestest results.
The sprocket isn't slipping round is it? Had that once when it hadn't been fitted onto the hub properly & the three 'splines' were only contacting the hub by half what they should have been & it just slipped round under load.
When mine slipped I found I'd kinked the cable when I'd removed the wheel. The small kink acted like a spring and made the hub change gear under load. Change the inner cable.
Thanks for the advice. Will check all these things over the weekend
I had the same thing on my Alfine. I just removed the plastic gear mechanism (twist the grey part to remove) and cleaned the out the dirt from the rear of it. It's been fine ever since.
