Hi i treated my neglected genesis io id 2009 to a spruce up today
i fitted a new chain, chainring and sprocket.I then got a bit brave split the hub and treated the internals to a oil bath
i followed this guide.
sevice guide
all went reasonably well in that the gears shift up and down smoothly and the chain line looks nice and straight.
However when i move the cranks backwards the wheel does not freewheel and seems to pick up ??
i have now fitted the sprocket both ways and i am now raising the white flag and asking the STW massive for advice
i fitted this 18t sprocket which i think is correct http://www.justridingalong.com//shop.php?product=175
9 spd kmc chain and 9 speed race face 34t chain ring
anyone have any ideas to what i may have done wrong? cheers DTD
pretty please ๐
PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE! ๐ณ
I had something similair when I put a normal cassette back on recently - I hadn't done the end cap back up properly and when moving the cranks backward the motion unscrewed the end cap and made it progressively worse.
Is the ballbearing / cone side overtightened and pulling stuff out of line?
Is it just not freewheeling easily of not at all? They do behave oddly in some gears when turned backwards - so long as the wheel freewheels forwards OK it is fine
Hi folks thanks for the replys
Jeremy i took several attempts to set the cones. when i spin the wheel after setting cones there was no pick up and it sits on two fingers no problem.
as soon as i insert the internals and tighten dust cap the sprocket wont freewheel? im rather stumped.
no matter what the gear setting ie yellow lines aligned or not it still picks up in reverse
