[Closed] Alfine Rear Hub - How on earth do you tighten the nut that holds the cable!

Maybe me being really dim but the nut needs a 10mm spanner or socket but there isn't room for a spanner or socket to fit!

Help!

You don't adjust it in situ - put it in 1st gear, and you should be able to slide the nut and attachment out of its slot with the cable. Then adjust the position once it's free.

Surely if the cable isn't tight enough the other 7 gears won't engage properly ๐Ÿ˜•

Seems a bit hit and miss to me

See the instructions on the Shimano site - basically the nut is supposed to be 101mm from the end of the cable bracket. Then put the cable back, stick it in 4th and fine tune the tension at the shifter until the two little yellow dots line up in the window on the hub selector.

It makes more sense when you start having a go, honest.

delux +1 - just do it per the instructions and it works, with a bit of fine tuning on the barrel adjuster.
