Just spotted this - not yet done my own tubeless tyres, and was wondering if those in the know reckon this would be suitable?

Unlikely. It won't have the airflow required to seat a tyre.

This will though...

Lol - if I had space for the big one I'd probably get one.

Was just a thought, easy solutions are rarely easy

I have one.
It doesn't do tubeless seating. Useful for car tyres though.

Nope.

What you need for tubeless is a big volume of air all in one go. You need an air receiver (tank) to give you a blast. What you linked to is fine for pumping tyres once they are seated.

What you need is a Frankenflator!

i was looking at the LIDL/Parkside 20v stuff, they had a compressor and an air pump.
The air pump was up to 100psi iirc,
You need to buy the battery and charger separately
It may be enough for you, someone else might know

I've got a frankenflator. It's brilliant and for an added dose of potential danger mine is still, er 'disguised' as a fire extinguisher. Dead easy to make if you can get an old CO2 extinguisher and track pump hose.

Always wanted to make a proper 'frankinflator',but i'll have to make do with a coke bottle until then

Anyone got any easy to follow instructions for making one from an old fire extinguisher please? I've just skipped a load of old ones at work so I can save one (was good fun discharging them all!)

I’ve been asked before about how I fill up the Frankenflator. Schradar tank valve. Boilers etc have them for pressurising systems.

The connection for the hose was a combination of fittings to get from where the “horn” pipe fits to a hose tail for the Topeak Joe Blow hose and chuck. I just gave it to my friendly hose and pipe fittings man and said “make this work”. Mine is air tight, unlike my first attempt that used the swivel fitting from the original horn. It kind of worked, leaked more air than it put in the tyre, it’s now airtight and safe.

The safe working pressure is stamped on the cylinder as 150 bar. (2175psi). I think it’s safe.

I think it’s safe.

I'd put that in the same class as "now watch THIS" as a prelude to injury!

In any case, I've never found seating tubeless difficult other than one instance.

In all other cases a £10 trackpump my inlaws found in their garage and going at it like an axe murderer has done the trick.

The one other time it was a riding buddy's slightly posher and larger volume track pump.

I’ll probably be getting the Aldi compressor to fill my frankenthingy.
It’s a ball ache doing it with a track pump.

At home I use my compressor with receiver to seat tyres, out in the wilds I last used an AirShot backed up with a 12v tyre inflator.

If they do them again, one of these from Aldi will do the job. not had a problem seating tubeless with it since I've had it, even on my 650b x 2.8 bikes.

As above, we have one mounted to the garage wall and one in the camper. Never failed to seat a tyre first time
If aldi don't have them in you can get the same from ebay
