Some of it on my bike! (he's a friend of a friend) Interesting chap, very nice guy too. Not seen him speak, but heard good things. Would be a good use of time, I reckon.

Have you got a link to the dates?

I've read his book which is very interesting and inspiring. Never heard his lecture but would quite like to.

Edit: Screwed the link up.

Went to his lecture a couple of years ago at Kendal Bike Night (part of the Kendal Film Festival). Very interesting, would recommend it to anyone. Problem was that he was far and away the best person on the stage that night and the story/slideshow from the next couple about riding across India sounded a bit pants by comparison to what he'd done!

I saw him speak in Darlington a few years ago; he's a great speaker and very inspiring.

He's also walked across India, rowed the Atlantic, and walked a lap of the M25. He's off to walk to the South pole and back soon.

His blog ( http://www.alastairhumphreys.com/) gives you a good idea of what he's about. He does good Twitter ( https://twitter.com/#!/Al_Humphreys) too.

(If you like adventurous stuff, my sister and her husband are doing a bit of a walk in the States at the moment: http://www.afowler.co.uk/posts/1033/)
