Off to Afan this weekend with some mates - starting Friday at Cwmcarn & then Saturday doing W2 & Prenhydd at Afan. monday we are at Bike park Wales so between this we want a ride Sunday...ideas?
So far we are weighing up:
Brechfa forest - do the red & black
Head to the Gower and do 40km of xc
Mooch around Afan (staying around Cymmer)
Anything better we could do closer to Afan?
There's some decent off-piste at Afan, given all the Gnar a trip around the gower might make for a welcom change of pace.
Brechfa is great, but red and black on slotted between Cwmcarn (assuming both XC loops given the rest of your plans) W2 and Penhydd and a day at BPW?! Jesus you're fitter than me.
The black at Brechfa is pretty tough on the climbs, the red is much easier as most of the climbs aren't very steep (but they're very long) it's a hell of a lot of riding that, a hell of a lot.
We are doing both red loops with lunch in between each loop. Maximise the weekend away from the kids
Dothie Valley was a good ride when we were close. ABout an hour from Afan.
Natural trail with some long climbs and a great descent down the side of the valley.
ALthough, we're in Afan this weekend too, we'll be riding a couple of the trails, then drinking beer all afternoon.
Far less energetic than your plans.
120km weekend plus BPW at a guess. That's a good shift that.
We got a guide from afan lodge, did a weekend and didn't touch any of the marked trails, miles and miles of great trails around there
