bought a new road bike.

Didn't really think about how I'm going to mount my lights for the tuesday night chaingang which will be back on good bikes pre the nights being light enough.

I use Exposure lights (maxx d(on low) and red eye)

The rear one is a rubber band and i can bodge it to stay in place - the front on the other hand - other than the Racewaredirect nylon GPS /go pro mount are there any other bright(natch) ideas.... as the racewaredirect one is not elegant in the slightest (especially compared to the stock GPS mount which is sleek)
https://exposurelights.com/products/stem-fit-bracket
also doesnt play with the stock gps mount although itll probably be the option i choose to get creative with as its far superior to the RWdirect one.

oh and photo

Try the chaps at MagCadd, they may well be able to knock something up for you as a one off.

Other than that, nice bike, but the bottle cage looks terrible!!!

Bottle cage is staying.

The K edge Go pro mount i may drill and tap the Stock garmin mount for - the K edge wont fit as the bars are aero profiled with no round parts at all.

The Exposure mount would need the spacer tubes that giant supply Cut down but could fit in there . - but the angles non adjustable(although with heat i could adjust it once) which isnt ideal when your running a maxx D on the road -

I use the giant aero garmin mount with joystick mounted underneath using a GoPro exposure adaptor. The bar profile on my SL bars doesn’t have enough round section for my K Edge mounts. See if you can convert the garmin mount you have with a lower half. Rear is always fizik integrated saddle clip for Cateye lights, but giant also have an aero seatpost adapting light I use aa a second back up. It fits both normal and SL frames.

Great bike. I was always concerned that you can’t rotate the bars to get that perfect angle on the drops.

i was worried about that also .

then i realised - i run my bars pretty much paralel to the floor anyway so at most it would only be a couple degrees out.

Hood angle was critical and its adjustable with ease.

The bar tape is that light weight stuff that feels like old toweling to barehands

I guess the most annoying thing is that they have supplied a bar thats 48cm across the hoods.... im used to a 42 as i dont have the broad shoulders of a 51% share holder (your listening to the streets;))

to get a 42/44 is going to be 100 quid. to bring the stem in by 10-15mm to account for the longer hoods on a modern bike is also 100 quid.....

Going to ride for a bit and see how it feels in a couple months.

when you say a go pro mount on the aero garmin mount - is there a specific piece for that or is it mash up ?

Giant mount

Exposure mount here:

https://exposurelights.com/products/bike/brackets-and-mounts/helmet-light-clip

All works perfectly. I have two mounts, one for each propel, but use the raceware for the race bike. I carry a spare Joystick for 3 hour night rides.

48 is massive! You'll need a longer stem if you go to 42 cm.

EDIT yo may be able to just mount the bottome part. I've done that under a base bar on a TT bike for my aeropod. Ask nicely and I might be able to help...

firstly that looks very nice...

If it were me, I'd be picking up an aero mount and a different light...must be undoing loads of the expensive aeroness attaching a maxx d to that...

while your right , i already own the maxx D , The chaingangs are not races and the cost of the mount is substantially less than that of a new light.

Too poor to buy a new light after spending all my pounds on aero.

I had one of those stem integrated mounts originally - bought off Amazon from R-mounts I think, before Giant released their solution (Aero bars and no round section was always an issue!) It was not a great mount to be honest. The Giant mount works well. And a Joystick is perfect for the job. Might strugle with mounting options for the Max-D though. I don't use my Strada on the Propels. I have used a Fly 12 as well with both Go Pro and Go Pro-to-Exposure mounts. I actually prefer the Joystick(s) as a solution.

Ok I've relented I noticed the giant bracket hAas mounts for a bolt on go pro mount.

I do have a joystick but its an old one with a spot beam so a bit shit but I'll give it a go.

As for the bottle cage haterz it now has lizard skins dsp 2.5 in lumo to match it.

Updated photo with the new bar tape?
I have a black canyon aeroad that I’m mulling over adding some colour to.

Has to be a nice carbon Arundel cage set on my carbon Giant(s). I have Matt and gloss depending on finish. The joystick aimed at the ground is pretty good. You lose peripheral vision a bit but I like it.

Nice bike, and the position doesnt look too aggressive either, maybe I should consult the bank manager!

anagallis to be fair Im on the cusp of M/L and L

If i was racing riding super aggressive id have got an M/L. But other than the headtube all the other dimensions are close enough - id just have been able to get lower on the M/L - which is what i used to have on a TCR advance when i did race.

I'm older and riding differently now - Plus i used one bike for all road events back then - Generally APRS , TT and Du/Triathlon , these day i have a silly aggressive TT bike for TTs and multisport.

I had this problem and in the end, I measured, CADed and had printed, a custom mount made in aluminium.

In hindsight, I wondered whether a 35mm clamp with some ABS polymer inserts would have fitted.
