with all the divertions at ae is it worth the trip,

IMO No, it has been a few months since I have been along but much better biking in that area (Unless you want to do the DH stuff only). Mabie, Dalbeattie and Drumlanrig all within very easy driving distance and all much better. A couple of the diversions are unrideable and really spoil the ride.
Hopefully the diversions, new work etc gets sorted out soon, Ae was never up with my favourites but was a pretty good trail to do every now and again.
