STW,

Going to purchase a slot dropout inbred, gunna run gears, discs and QR skewers.
Question :
Do I need a chain tug if I propose to sit the rear wheel in the slide dropout as far up towards the rear wheel as poss to avoid it pulling foward under pedalling?
Question :
Some research on here would suggest that because the rear IS brake mounts are mounted to the chain stay instead of the seat stay, that you need spacers to push the caliper out to sit central on the rear disc ?

Anyone with any advice / experience / pics ?
Thanks

Sliding and slot aren't the same. I have a sliding one which has built in tugs and has worked perfectly eg never slipped. It does require a spacer between the disc mount holes and the calipers to space it properly but these came with the frame.

Not sure about the slot ones where the discmount is between the chain and seat stays though if the wheel is as far forward as it'll go then you won't need tugs.

How do these new on-one dropouts work? quite fancy getting a scandal but the dropouts are putting me off. I've no intention of running singlespeed and i can't find any info on the on-one site either.

New On-one dropouts actually work quite well, and you wont need a chain tug for gears with the wheel all the way forward. Will only move in a big crash.

The exception might be on a 29er, when you might get front mech clash. I use some cleverly bodged monkeynuts.

Clubber is right; slot dropout frame does not require spacers for the caliper, like the sliding dropout frame did.

For geared, no tug required, just push the wheel in all the way. The disc mounts are slotted so you can move the mount about. For singlespeed, put one tug on the drive side, line up the disc side by eye. I swap my inbred between SS and geared and it's fine with quick release and Avid BB cable discs - never had a problem with the wheel moving about.

My slot-dropout Inbred is running with gears and no tug. Works fine - I noticed a tiny bit of slippage once but it was just because I didn't have the QR done up tight enough.
