Having sold my last decent mtb I am looking for an mtb that will deliver half decent performance without tying up too much money. It would still be nice to have one in the garage for the occasional foray. I have neither the time for inclination to build one up. I might be open to 2nd hand but was also looking at new, something like the Vitus Zircon

Input and suggestions on other options or any bargains out there welcome. Looking at 17/18".
Many thanks.

both ๐Ÿ™‚ don't want a lot of money tied up in an mtb though, have just found some last years models online that night do the job. Had a clearout and reappraisal of riding priorities.

Looks like a perfectly decent bike. This http://www.wiggle.co.uk/giant-revel-ltd-0-2012/#more is also pretty nice for roughly the same money. It's worth noting though that most bike shops will build a bike up for you though if you ask.

Have a look at edinburgh bike co op own brand ( revolution)

or the merida hardtails

http://www.thebikechain.co.uk/Merida-Matts-70-D-14.5-201111140914/

Both a lot of bike for your money, both available in a range of levels of kit.

I was told by a bike shop salesman (a salesman in a bike shop, not a vendor of bike shops, before the pedantry descends! ๐Ÿ˜› ) recently that Merida make Specialized bikes and that most Meridas are rebadged Specialized - ie nice bikes but remarkably good value. Not sure how much truth is in it, I'm sure someone on here will have the definitive answer.
