Ugh, things you learn after running a bike through 6 winters volume 14 🙁
My Shimano equipped road bike has barrel adjusters welded onto the headtube, like these:

I have never even thought to lube them and have just sheared one of screws right off whilst doing some bodging leaving the thread stuck in the lug on my bike, its sheared cleanly at the top and theres no chance of getting any purchase to tease it out
I see my options as the following:
1) take it to clever people who will drill it out and let me fit a new one like for like
2) use a barrel adjuster at the shifter end instead, should be easy as the lug doesnt have any thread sticking out, the cable outer will sit nicely with a ferrule
Thing is I cant find such a gizmo for a Shimano road system, but then Im too angry with myself to use the internet properly at the moment
Anyone help please?
You can get in line adjusters.
wodge something in the hole of what's left (a bradle or small screwdriver) and try to unwind it out that way, i've saved a similar situation a few times like this
if the gear cable is just resting against the stop rather than solidly secured it might affect your shifting
