On Wednesday Certini delivered my new bike (Epic Carbon Marathon) in perfect condition with all the suspension set up exactly for my weight. Nothing out of the ordinary there. However the bike comes with SRAM trigger shifters which I just can't get on with thanks to my dodgy thumbs, so Wednesday afternoon was supposed to be spent removing the gears and brakes and putting on my XTR dual controls.
However, for some reason the rear mech would not come off. I warmed it gently, let it soak in penetrating oil overnight, used a good quality Park allen key, but it wasn't having it. My local Spesh shop said it happened a lot with SRAM mechs, he wouldn't touch it and although he was very helpful, he said he couldn't get another mech hanger until the end of November.
When I spoke to Certini, they said they had a mech hanger which they would put in the post, but were worried about me getting it due to the postal strikes.
Mid morning yesterday a courier arrives with a new mech hanger, bike was duly built and taken for a fantastic ride on the South Downs.
Brilliant service to resolve a problem which wasn't even really theirs to resolve. Big thanks Guys!
