I have run conti argotals in enduro soft for quite a while.
I fancy trying a pair of maxxis high roller 3 but can’t work out their equivalent compound. I think I need a 3c max grip exo+ on the front and a 3c maxx grip double down on the rear.
does that sound about right right? Mostly Aggressive enduro style riding if that makes any difference.
thanks!
EXO+ is quite a bit lighter carcass than Conti's Enduro casing... 3C Maxxgrip should be a similar compound to Conti's Soft though, if not ever so slightly softer...
I would've thought a maxx grip on the rear would slowly suck the life out of you on the climbs. Love mine on the front though.
Had max grip HR3s front and rear when they first came out, don’t think I’ve ever had a tyre wear out as quick as the rear did. Seemed like 3 rides and it was noticeably less grippy to the point of looking for a new tyre, good while it lasted though. They also look a lot narrower when mounted due to the tread being more on the top of the carcass if that bothers you
Argotal again for me then! Thanks for the replies.
I thought it was roughly:
Super Soft = MaxxGrip
Soft = MaxxTerra
This tallies broadly with my experience with a Kryptotal & DHR2 in Soft / MaxxTerra on the rear. I'll be putting a Super Soft on the front if I get round to trying the Argotal next winter.
