Question for the dog lovers in the group - we have a med/large cockapoo and would like to take her on our rides - does anyone have any dog trailer recommendations?? I’ve got bikes with both QR and 12mm axles so could potentially use either if axle fitting is important (or maybe seatpost fixing is better?) - would love to hear any recommendations/insights - thx

I like the way they've brought the load area back under the head tube to stop the wheelbase getting as long. Why has no-one else done that?

@DaveP - thanks for that! Looking at it, that might be a bit small - she’s quite big (sort of Labrador size - maybe not as heavy)

I saw someone on YouTube yesterday renovating their old sidecar. That looked great for a large dog. However it was custom made to fit the hybrid MTB the owner had.
I’ve had dogs for about the last 20 years. I’ve never found that dogs and bikes make a particularly great combination except in a handful of circumstances. If you have them on your doorstep, great! I can’t imagine my dog would be happy in a trailer. I had a trailer for my daughter and on anything but the flat it makes the bike less enjoyable to ride.
I just walk the dog and ride bikes separately these days.
The fantastically named Burley Tailwagon. Good quality but £££. A lab would fit no problem, we get a terrier and a med collie cross in together. They both hate it.
12mm Axles take a bit of seeking out. Think I got one from SJS, it's not a Burley one. If you use QR prefer a sturdy steel job over lightweight alu.

Yes it can be done, but plenty of situations where this is a bad idea
We got the Burley, the dog didn't want to be in it, he wanted to be running, so you tow it empty for 20 miles so the dog can sit in it for the last 5.
And it was about £500! get a 2nd hand kid trailer- if its safe enough for kids it'll be safe enough for the pup, and probably about £40
Then, when you realise no one is really enjoying themselves you can sell it at no great loss and enjoy slightly shorter bike rides with your dog.
