I finally managed to get the right BB for the crankset I bought for my road bike, and now everything seems to fit together as it should. Almost...

I just have one question while I wait for Amazon Prime to deliver my new BB spanner:

Last night, I did what I could without a spanner, and tightened the BB by hand. Then installed the crankset to see if everything fit, and it did. Except that, when I did everything up as I would have had I been about to go out and ride it, the crankset would not rotate.

Now, I assume that's because I haven't yet tightened the BB as it should be, and so the cranks are rubbing tightly against the external cups. On that basis, I expect it won't be a problem tomorrow (after I tighten the BB with the appropriate spanner). But since I'm just sitting around waiting for the correct tool, I might as well ask in the meantime:

Considering the front derailleur is up and out of the way to accommodate the larger front chain ring, is there anything else that might be stopping the cranks from turning when the bolt is fully done up? Or am I right to think that I just need to finish tightening the BB?

Finally, apologies for all the mechanical questions: I'm a complete newbie when it comes to anything other than basic bike maintenance.

Put this on your xmas list... http://amzn.eu/d/ew8mZop

Did you mangle the internal plastic bit when you did it up? I assume not if you got the spindle through, but if it's buckled it can rub / cause not to spin.

You've not got the crank stuck against/through the workstand have you...
