... after foolishly entering MM this year I need a front light.

A friend has kindly lent me a lovely dual Ay-Up set up - handlebar & helmet but at having seen the cost of the set up I am a little scared to use it for fear of crashing, loosing, damaging etc. 😳

So tentatively looking for a reasonably priced handlebar light that would do for the event. I have a good head torch with adjustable beam that I would hope be enough for helmet use ......

Any suggestions/thoughts?

Ay Ups are very robust.
The only real risk of damage is tearing the rubber mounting on the helmet on an overhanging branch. Spares are about £3 I think.

If you are not used to night riding you might underestimate the amount of light you need.

Deal extreme do a basic bike nightriding light very cheaply. They also sell torches with high outputs Search for p7 on deal extreme

You need at least a (claimed) 500 lumen IMO for riding perferably more although its nice to have a low power option for nontechnical climbs to save batteies.

I just found this searching deal extreme - another varient on the night riding light. I know nothing about this one

I think this one is the common one that many folk use

PArticvularly at an event where there'll be lots of other riders with brighter lights get something with as much oomph as you can afford - you'll spend a lot of time riding in your own shadow from lights behind you otherwise.

Cheers guys.

The single light Ay Up seems relatively good VFM - but still nearly three times the cost of the P7 😕

Hmm.

Stupid night time riding ....... 😆
