[Closed] A gubbins so you can pump your shock up with your tyre pump?

A tyre pump is high volume, low pressure. A shock pump is low volume, high pressure. Difficult to get one pump to do both, unless.....

Wouldn't a normal pump fit anyway? Although I doubt you would get the required pressure.

Normal pump will let all the air out when you disconnect it...

This double ones will take about a year to pump up a tyre, there is a reason they make different pumps

You can use a shock pump on your tyres but as said the pressure would be too much for it to cope with. There was an ews story about Graves I think using a co2 inflator on his fork after a problem. Not recommended unless you have a sponsor nearby

and then not really work on either your tyres or your shocks

I always carry mine on a group rde as someone will have a pump

Never get why we all go out with 23 multi tools and no variety of equipment just in case

I carry a mech and a shock pump
Possibly a tyre if really rocky

yes but they are all essentially a shck pump that in an emergency can pump your tyre if you have three hours to kill 😉
Bit like those roadie micro pumps they are small but near useless when in operation
IMHO there is no point having a pump that does not really do the job when you ask it to so i would always take the weight penalty and take both if solo and i cared

I did manage to do a maxxis dh tube on 26 with a shock pump and it didn't take as long as you would think. These days co2 and tubeless takes care of most of my issues that end. The only time I carry a shock pump is when I'm on a trip somewhere that I might want to tweak the bike.
It's one of the nice things about modern bikes they kind of work a bit better 🙂

nope, that noise you hear is the high pressure air coming out of the gubbins external to the valve.

And they are awkward shaped.

I have the older version of the Specialised Air Tool...its a not a shock pump pretending to be a tyre pump, its better than that. You can choose to pump with the large volume cylinder or the small volume cylinder.

However, its fairly big, bulky, and too easy to accidentally 'change mode' during use, rather annoying when you are reinflating a tyre and have to keep stopping to 'close' the small volume section.

Mine did seem rather loose, perhaps the newer version has a more positive switch.

Blackburn Toolmanator 16 had a shock pump, seems to be still available at some retailers.

Yesterday one of our group had a shock valve malfunction.

This hardly ever happens though TBF, and it's probably just about the only thing you could fix with a shock pump if your rear shock fails.
