Hi All
Just wanted to say, if your out there somewhere, a BIG THANK YOU to the Mountain Bikers who stopped and help my Mum today, when she fell off her horse on the moors behind Hollingworth Lake.
She says you guys were great and a credit to yourselves and Mountain Bikers!!
Thank you from me for calling the Ambulance, staying with her and helping her into the ambulance, she is now comfortable in Oldham Royal with a broken ankle and bruised pride.
Thanks again
Peter
Hope she gets well soon!
We have to remember that we all, walkers, cyclists, equestrians, potentially in need of help from each other in the great outdoors.
Good lads. ๐ Hope yer mum makes a full and speedy recovery.
Thanks Guys ๐
great story!
Brings back memories for me from some years ago.
Firstly, I'm Very happy to hear your Mum's ok - Even near the lake, It can get a bit bleak off the beaten track at times & it's good to hear she was found in good time & kept safe and well until professional help arrived.
As someone who lives near the lake ( about a mile away), I'm also very happy about the positive public relations exercise between the equestrian set & the Mountain bikers.
Many years ago, we didn't have the relative harmonious situation that we currently seem to enjoy. But I've found that in the last decade or so, we seem to have a common dislike of some of the motorised brigade who seem to rip up the local trails ( ...eg, between the mast at J22 & Milnrow).
( I must state at this point that it is just some, not all of the quadbikers).
It must have been about 10 years ago ( if not more), But I recall being in a similar situation & helping a thrown horse rider retrieve her horse & making sure both she & her horse were settled down & ok to continue their journey. - Happily, in this situation, all it cost, was the ladies pride & four munchy bars from my backpack to calm the horse.Your Mum will have six weeks in a cast, but at least she's ok.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Regards
Chris
