[Closed] 700c tyres - which width - daft question ?

Flat barred 700c wheeled fast hybrid used for work commute - about 30 miles round trip. Need lot more puncture resistance. I'm looking at Conti Ultra Gatorskin or Conti SuperSport Plus. Problem is the maximum widths are 28mm for Gators and 25mm for SuperSport. I currently have 32mm with panniers at the back (have checked and the wheels can take 25mm OK).

Daft question - does anyone know if it's OK to have panniers but with tyres only 25mm wide or should the tyres be wider ?

Thanks

No real issue with panniers and tyre widths, but there is quite a bit of added comfort with a wider tyre. I've just fitted Conti GP 4 seasons in a 28mm to my Sutra and have found them to be fast-rolling, comfortable and (so far) puncture free.

Not sure about the panniers question but definately recommend Conti Ultra Gatorskin. Reasonably light, roll well and pretty puncture proof. Go for the 28's

can't see any reason why you should need 32s unless you have a hell of a lot of stuff in your panniers, 28's will roll faster too

I have gators and they are decent tyres

Biffer with 28mm spesh armadillos on my [s]flat barred road bike[/s] hybrid. They are superb.
