So I've got a knackered 6803 bearing in my mavic freehub. Got the old one out but I need to press the new one in. What size socket do I need to press the new one in? The ones in my collection aren't large enough.
Cheers.
Take the bearing that you pressed out into a socket shop and match the sizes?
Socket should contact outer race, not seals or inner race yet still allow you to press the bearing as far as it need to go. (if its below flush with the hub, then the OD of the socket also needs to be smaller than the ID of the hole..)
Is it possible to use the old bearing to press in the new one?
Otherwise as above, take bearing and match to a socket at Halfords or whatever. There is no right size as the manufacturers of the sockets will spec them with different OD's.
6803 has 26mm outer diameter and 17mm inner diameter
I'd just use the old bearing to press the new one in myself
