TLDR: Mechanical/Rim road frame being replaced under warranty (finally). Mechanical/Rim frame no longer available, so I'm being sent an Electronic/Rim frame.

Issue: Nearly new Ultegra 6800 groupset will have to be replaced (this claim took nearly 5 years to sort out).

Solutions:
1- 11s electronic STI + RD + FD? Anything 6800 compatible out there?
2- 12s Di2 Rim groupset. Available, but it's just over £1k.

Spotted this on facebook the other day:

(1) Marketplace – Di2 groupset 6870 hydraulic groupset | Facebook

Edit -sorry, hydraulic shifters but is is still worth it for the RD/FD and then find separate rim shifters while selling the hydraulic ones?

Sell replacement frame and nearly new kit. Buy a whole new bike. Some cracking deals around.

Probably not very helpful but I can wholeheartedly recommend the Basso Venta in rim brake guise for a frame somewhere in between race and endurance geometry with space for 30mm GP5000s under Ultegra callipers.

UK distributors aren't very helpful and will probably deny the frame even exists but I emailed Basso who sorted me out.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll have a think.

It's a Cipollini Bond 2 (being replaced with a Cipollini Bond Evo).

The problem was Paligap - totally ignored the original warranty claim because they were going under (little did I know). I'm not sure when they took over, but Chicken Cycle Kit started looking after things. Speaking to them got it sorted.👌

Cracking support from Chicken Cycle Kit - I wish I'd contacted them sooner TBH.

I prefer a totally mechanical bike that I can fix with a hammer... but I now find myself shopping around for a rechargeable high voltage electromagnetic atom smasher. 😂

Wish they'd been that helpful when I was trying to order my Basso! 😂

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not grasping what is stopping the frame from using a mechanical groupset, is it just cable stops, or lack there of? If so I'm sure you can buy those to attach to a frame.

It'll be more about the routing (entry/exit points). Being a carbon frame, it isn't just a simple case of drilling holes in it.

Plus the front derailleur would need sufficient support and leverage from the BB area in order to change gears.

Modern Shimano front derailleurs have built in cable stops and adjustment so if it's physically possible to run a full length cable housing through the frame you might only need to replace the front derailleur.

Is option 3 maybe flogging the (basically new) frame and buying something that can take your mechanical groupset?

Looks like a good option too.

There were 3 colour options... somehow I've selected the worst (after seeing real life pics of it LOL).

Argh. 😂

Used SRAM Red Etap is really nice. I have it on two bikes. I run 1x11 but do have a FD too. Pay £200-240 for unmarkerd shifters and about the same for an immaculate RD. One bike is a cable Ti cross bike, but I left the cable stops on. The other is a mk1 Giant Propel that could run elctronic or cable. I bought the dedicated cable stop covers to fill in all the holes.

Etap is so much easier than Di2 to set up at home!

Apologies for the late reply - got sidetracked by a new XC bike (which is far more tempting than spending money on a road bike).

Just had a look - people are asking silly money. I could try harder but....

...found an immaculate Cannondale S6 EVO that might just do the job. 👌
