my wifes bike is shod with schwalbe marathon puncture proof tyres. reason being, we do a lot of miles,on all surfaces, and so far ( 5 years)they have been spot on.

but, she is only 10 stonei n weight, and i got thinking that the tyre set up is kind of hefty.

so i was thinking of setting her wheels up tubeless, which should be ok, as she has halo tubeless ready wheels.

so i am looking for a tough quick rolling gravel/ touring tyre that is lighter than the schwalbes.

650b x 47 will fit ok as her current tyres are 47.

any ideas greatly appreciated.

I really rate Continental for this application these have been my choice for years of commuting often worn out before any punctures.

There are more treaded options, but these are proper quick. Not tried them tubeless, never felt the need.

I bought a bike with Marathons on once, hateful!

Vittoria do some nice tyres. I have Terrano Dries with just a hint of tread. The also do a slick

I've had no end of trouble with wtb byways tubeless but they were lovely and supple. Not gone for Hutchinson fusions which have gone up with zero fuss. Not ridden yet but look good

Schwalbe G-One 50mm are light and fast, tough enough ime but they show wear relatively soon compared to a Byway. Byways are good all rounders, last ages but the thick tread area isn't as fast-rolling as the G-One.

Do they do Big Apples in 650B yet? They'd be a bit harder wearing.

650b x 47 btw. Had 700c Gravel Kings in the past and they were great as well.

Been using 650x47 gravelking SKs for a few years. Good grip and roll well, but not the most robust carcass if you abuse them. The ‘+’ casing version is much tougher but noticeably harsher.

(Also a complete arsehole to setup tubeless the first time. They’re always pretty baggy)
