As the title really - only ever used centre lock - do I need to put threadlock when installing my rotors?
Cheers,
J
The Shimano-supplied bolts already have threadlock on them
All the bolts I've used have blue threadlock on them already....
cool - that's easy then.
off to order some bolts.

mmmm, I had one seize into a hub and that stripped the thread out of the hub, always done the anti threadlock thing since then and put grease on them..
Avid bolts have threadlock on them when they come too.
..Hope's do too
Yes you should realy use locktite but only use the blue 248 mediun strength NOT the red 222.
Mind you, 6 bolts on brake rotors for bicycles is massive overkill anyway, so threadlock on them as well...
I used grease last time, damn things keep coming loose ๐
If your multi-tool has a torx attachment, get the torx rotor bolts as they are much harder to round off.
baznav, what's wrong with 222? I've been using that on bikes for years without issue. It's a low strength product so is perfect for bolts with soft heads (like rotor bolts)
instead of threadlock I use a loctite retainer 638 or similar. Put a blob of this under the head of the fastener. works just as well and less likely to shear a bolt in the future when undoing...
works for car conrold bolts as well and does not modify torque readings
