broken heel but looking to the future when i can get back on the bike
the impacts seem to have the thickest sole but look gopping!
but the gravels claim to have a padded heel support- anyone have these are they that padded

Not in a comfy way, no. To me they give little discernible comfort over a 5 10 or AM 40 in the "padded sould department. I think there is something in there to take there sting out of impacts but nothing like a soft or comfy trainer.
How about the Five Ten Freeriders. Same sole as the Impacts and tons of padding, but look like ordinary skate shoes
