Am going rigid on my commuter. 1998 bike designed for 80 mm forks. Is putting a 440 mm (100 mm suss) fork going to change things drastically?

Cheers

You want 420mm ideally.

Steel frame should be ok but handling will be slightly off depending oh how picky you are-some will fit and never notice a thing.

Thin aluminum headtube will be under strain but may be fine for years.

Personally I'd get 420mm. Can you gettaway with 440? sure!

Thanks zaskar will hold out for a 420. Its going on a super strong 1998 6/4 Ti Litespeed but don't want to mess the handling up.

Pace are still advertising some RC31s in the 420mm.
