Building up a cheap as possible Stanton Switchback for my lad.

We already have an Ethirteen BB (30mm).

Just noticed that CRC have a SRAM DUB crankset reduced to £21. I believe they are 29mm spindle. Is there some sort of shim you can use or do you actually need one?

Edit: just realised that the cheap cranksets aren’t boost.

Anyone know of any cheap 11 speed 30mm cranksets out there?

I don't think so.

PF30/BB30 etc have quite narrow spacing between the bearings, they sit inside the (68mm?) frame.

DUB is an external system so the bearings are on the outside (90 / 95mm to the outside of the bearings?).

So not so much a shim needed, but you'd need a big spacer on both sides too.

Edit: just realised that the cheap cranksets aren’t boost.

IIRC no SRAM crank is boost, you just pick the correct offset chainring to suit your chainline.

You would need a shim, yes. Hope 30mm can be shimmed down to DUB but not sure if E13 can.

Non-boost chainsets can be used on a boost bike, as long as the ring clears the chainstay.

I'd avoid DUB/30mm and go for 24mm, unless you have a good deal on 30mm. Bearings are cheaper and last longer.

Raceface Turbine and Atlas can be had fairly cheap for 30mm

Cheers everyone. I can get a Dub BB for £20 so might be easier to sell the 30mm one and go that route.

FYI I ran a non-boost crank on a Switch9er no problems so it should fit a Switchback. It wouldn't fit a Cotic SolarisMax thought.
