I ended up going with LB Carbon simply because DT don’t do the XM551 in 29”.

I bought one of the Halo ready built wheels for my Stooge. Vapour 50 with a Chronicle on is great. Tight fit mind, but went up with a track pump. Also tried a Knard on a Vapour 35 rim but that didn't feel anywhere near as invincible so I'd definitely not compromise and go with the wider rims. Still wonder if I should have gone the Rabbit Hole route, but they cost for a rim as much as my built wheel did.

Have not used them, but won't Strada build something for you?.

p.s. I run Nobby Nic 2.6 on the 35 rim and that is perfect for winter as there is better mud clearance (for winter clay)

Going on the Ti Stooge which has a carbon Travers Fork had issues with the Hugos as they don't seem strong enough in 27.5 guise would the 29 be stronger perhaps?

No experience of other plus rims, but the Rabbit Holes that I've had built up for about 5 years have been absolutely bombproof. Go up tubeless surprisingly easy too.

I've got an Easton Arc 40mm internal with a Chronicle. No issues whatsoever.

I think they've only got them in 28h at the moment (I was browsing on CRC the other day and had a look at 29+ rims) - though of course 28h might be perfect!

Hugo 29+ are the worst plus rims I've used. Killed 3 in short succession in rocky stuff. Velocity dualies are great, but the best value/performance plus rims I've used are the halo rims/wheelsets got some on the mk3 stooge and they have have been bomber. Dead easy to tubeless, no hassles and the hubs are as good as hope, which surprised me. When I swap rims on the speedball I'll be going for some stealth halo 50mm 29er rims
