Does anyone know from experience if the 28 x 2.00 version of either of these tyres will fit a 29er rim?

I'm pretty sure Schwalbe label their 29er tyres as 28

Is it because 29er actually refers to the outer tyre diameter and 29er wheels are actually 700c which is 28"?

Am I talking rubbish...?

Yes, the so called 28x2" are both 622mm bsd tyres.

Yes they do as i have them fitted to my Fargo (2.35").

In fact, i Bought a Folding Big Apple 2.0 to try on my Hack bike (with a 29er front wheel) but thought it was too 'small' so replaced it with another 2.35" one instead.

It's sat in the garage if you want to buy it? Ridden for 1-2 miles only so as new. £17 posted or £15 collected (Midlands).

Thanks MrTall, but think I also want the 2.35" version, did you found a huge amount of difference between the two sizes?

I've had 2.90x 28 fat franks and 29er race kings on the same rims (Mavic Open Pro). And the fat franks came up at about 46mm. I could have gone size up and still fitted in the frame, but weight and toe overlap are already more than I'd like, so I guess I'm happy!

I'd say that the 2.35" is around double the total volume of the 2". I think they are fabulous tyres and they make for such a smooth rolling ride (20-30psi). 2.35" measures around 60mm (on Flows) and the 2" only 45mm (albeit on a slighter narrower rim). I was most disappointed by the 2" version in comparison, i'd say it's a completely different tyre.

Not a cheap tyre though these days, cheapest i can find the folding version is £35 off the chap on ebay. I've got 2 wire ones and a folding one which is 100-200g lighter if i recall? Got the wire ones last year from Charlie the BikeMonger and they were only around £20 or so. That's inflation for you.....

I've got the 2" Fat Franks on my Mavic TN719 (29er) rims on my Singular. They fit inside my 50mm mudguards no probs, so obviously less than 2" across

side note on tyre pricing. rubber prices have gone through the roof, so you'll find pretty much all tyres have increased in price significantly over the course of this year.
