[Closed] 29er gravel tyres?

Hi all, I'm after a set of 29er tyres for my Sonder Frontier that'll serve me well on the Dirty Reiver. Because of the rim width, I'm looking at 2.2".

Any suggestions would be most welcome! Thanks very much.

Maxxis Pace would be perfect, I had some and they are great.

Perhaps also WTB Nanos or Schwalbe Thunder Burt's.

Planet X have loads of dirt cheap stuff last I looked, including some skinny Vittoria 29er's that'd likely work

Stealth ad: I have one little-used 29er Pace tyre for sale in the classified for a tenner 🙂

I use some tubeless 2.35" shwalbe g one speeds for those kinds of rides - basically big balloon tyres at low pressure.

Works really well.

Thanks chaps, advice is much appreciated.

@legometeorology I'd thought of Nanos but too narrow for my rims unfortunately. Thunder Burts I've not come across, so will have a look thank you.

@yourguitarhero I'd not realised that G-One Speeds were available at that width. Do they work on road, too?

2.35 G-One Speeds roll really well on the road at ~40/45PSI for me, but the higher pressure you are happy to run them the better on tarmac, because the soft rubber wears pretty quickly. Not great in the wet at higher pressures (max 50PSI IIRC), not tried them in winter months.

@djflexure - are they the 2.3"? How much are you looking for?

The 2.35 Schwalbes are brilliant for this. Because of the volume you can run them at relatively low pressures so you get your grip from conformation to the surface rather than from knobs.

I found that ok except for on very loose fine gravel overlaying hard surfaces, and on slime, but I have trouble with ordinary mtb tyres on that sort of thing too, just a microsecond later than with the smooth tyres.

@epicyclo thanks for that, that's great to know. I'd be running them tubeless so low pressures shouldn't be an issue.

@djflexure apologies, only just seen your reply. Can they be run tubeless? £25 sounds great if they can, and have some miles left in them.

@oddnumber

Sounds like you're sorted now, but for the record I should have said I meant the 2.1" Nano's:

@legometeorology thanks dude, they're what I would have gone for by default but they're just a bit too narrow for my rims.
