I like spinning a really low gear when climbing, but my current 28t is too small for the Occam and so the chain saws the chainstay if I'm in top gear. To combat this I've tightened the h screw so that it can't drop into the 10t cog at the back.
Works OK, but of course means I only have 11speeds. 30 t up front is too big so I've been keeping an eye out for a 29t ring which should be just right.
And they've finally got them in stock !

You can actually get 29t narrow wides, they use two offset rings arranged in an infinite spiral pattern
I've spent a while making a 33t one in the shed, and finally achieved it this morning.
It has the added benefit of preventing suspension bounce, because even-numbered teeth mean there's more opportunity for the rear shock to settle into a rhythm. Having an odd number of teeth makes the rider's "power stroke" work against the natural "bob" of the shock - so evening out the power delivery.
No ovalisation needed either, which makes it easier to make on my vice and file setup.
What Tredz won't tell you is that you need one of these to make it work properly.

You don't need to buy a 29-tooth chain ring, with careful use of a file you can simply remove a tooth from a 30-tooth ring. Job done. Has markedly reduced the difficulty of climbing for me.
Just remember to rotate the chain ring every few months so you are getting even wear and using the teeth next to the crank that don't normally touch the chain
