[#13536421]

I thought i would swap the tyres out on my Krampus, ive established Minions are crap.

The replacements, ive never had on these wheels before and were MEGA tight. So much so that it looks like ive cracked a rim. Theres tubeless bubbles coming out of the rim wall itself 🙁

Although its a Krampus, im currently running 30mm trail rims and normal sized tyres, but i do nominally have space for up to 50mm rims, i think.

Pressumably a 50mm rim restricts what size tyre you can use, probably not XC style 2.0" race kings or similar?

pressumably a 40mm rim would make a good halfway house? any reccomendations?

Ive actually got some Mavic 319s, that came off the wheelset when new, but dont know if i could handle a 19mm rim these days.

Stans Flow rims are a good compromise. I've got Mk3s on my Stooge and they'll happily run everything from a 2.2 to a 2.8 tyre. Mk4s are very slightly wider I think - 30mm internal Vs 29mm.

Obviously a Krampus should have Rabbit Hole rims 😉 but they don't make them anymore 🙁

Decent rims for the money and way lighter than unicycle stuff, but yes - the beadlock is a bit erm, enthusiastic. Getting tyres on is no problem, and they inflate easily, but off……
