Is it me, or are the 27.5 Minion not quite in the same league grip-wise as the smaller version?
I could always rely on 26 minions to just grip, whereas I was having definite "woo-ah" moments yesterday. Is there a pressure sweet spot? Am I just being picky?
might try something different
Hmmm, sounds like heresy to me...
Can't fault mine to be fair.
The DHR II is such an improvement on the original DHR which was a truly hateful tyre.
it's probably in my head, right?
Or user error ๐
I can't fault the DHR2 and SS 27.5 Minions, haven't tried the DHF in that size. It's probably in your head!
However (and this will make me sound like a bit of a mentalist) but I never got on with the 27.5 Trail King like I did with the 26 Trail King (aka Rubber Queen). Initially I thought it was just the Protection casing not being as supple as the UST one but they did look different. Turns out the 26 and 27.5 versions have exactly the same number of knobs so they're spaced wider around the circumference on the bigger tyre, and the knobs are slightly smaller on the 27.5 version. And the compound tears off more easily.
It sometimes happens, I haven't tried that exact tyre but you get changes in design, angle of attack of the blocks (small, mind, but it's there), different structure... Like, the 2.5 Minion 29 singleply is a great tyre but from somewhere it's aquired pingyness, which I've never felt on any minion. Or the specialized butcher control looks and feels very similiar but in 26 it's basically got the best sliding manners of any tyre I've ever used, the 29er rolls, grips, and feels the same but it doesn't have the magic slide.
The basic design of the minion is a thousand years old but they stick new compounds, carcasses etc into it from time to time.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that you've changed one or two other components that could have an effect? Rather than just the tyres?
There's always that possibility legend! ๐
they've gone...What ever it was, in my head or actual difference; in the end is a bit academic, they're weren't "right" and as I'm sure a major part of tyre confidence is on one's head...they had to go.
