Hi all
Doing a 26 inch build and noticed that I can get some fairly good deals on 27.5 forks. Given they are newer and therefore (possibly) less knackered, is there at reason not to use 27.5 forks on a 26 build? Frame and wheels are 26er
Do it. Been riding my Remedy 26" with 27.5 Pikes for coming up to 2 years now ๐
Got 650b forks on my 26" rocket. Works just fine.
Take a look at the sizing and geometry chart here: http://www.cotic.co.uk/product/BFe26#sizing
That's a manufacturer advising what the differences are with 27.5. And supplying 26" build with 27.5 forks...
Just make sure you reduce the length of travel accordingly so your not jacking up the front too much...?
No issues with axle to crown length?
Edit: thanks metalheart, that is immensely helpful! About 0.5 degree difference in head angle between 26 and 27.5
The axle to crown difference between 26 & 27.5 will be 10mm for the same travel fork model. It'll be fine. Crack on
I was just contemplating the same thing. I want to upgrade my old coil Pikes on my BFe. Could go with xfusion 26" ones but for more future proofing was thinking a 27.5 one. then again by the time I get round to buying another frame there will probably be another standard.
I have 27.5 on my 26" Chameleon that I mainly use during winter. I'm glad I have the extra clearance for a mudhugger because a mate with the same bike but with 26" forks has major rubbing when landing decent size jumps. It makes a right bang. Mine are fine on the same stuff. I think mine are 12.5mm than the equivalent 26".
