[#5895871]

I was thinking if selling my Kona AM bike and buying another bike so i can run a reverb but id rather spend the money on my race bike and having ridden the Kona yesterday realise it much more fun than i remember.

so being that it takes a 30.0 mm seatpost i would like to see what the fine people of stw reccomend in a 27.2 mm dropper post so i can run it with a shim.

also if anyone has an alternative solution id like to hear about it please.

cheers!

Gravity dropper, or get the seat tube reamed out to 30.9, 18bikes do it iirc...

I was thinking about turning down the outside diameter of a 30.9 reverb aswell but in unsure of the wall thickness?

The fact that if the seat clamps a bit tight will stop them working suggests that the wall thickness of the post is pretty slim, turning it down thinner might be dodgy..
I've heard of someone off here having their frame done without any problems though..

Why bother? Gravity Droppers are awesome. They go up when they're supposed to, down when they're supposed to, are relatively light, user serviceable. Only downside is that they aren't as pretty as a Reverb.

I've been using an X Fusion hilo for a while. Its a good solid piece of kit. Decent price on wiggle at the moment too

Another +1 on the hilo. The only negatives I can say are that it squeaks if it gets too dry and if you over clamp it in the frame it doesn't drop/rise properly (so I've got a coke can shim to reduce the clamping force required.

Someone was selling a Transition Bottlerocket in the classifieds a few months back that had the seat tube reamed out from 30 to 30.9 by 18bikes, if you have the facility to do that yourself then i'd personally go for that.

I saw that a minute ago, how long have you had it? How does it fair with the mud and crap?

The new Thompson looks good. I have a KS i7 that's been really reliable. Or the reliable Gravity Dropper

Exactly the same as the RSP Plummet. Really very very good - bought mine last week and it is fantastically well made, great action, very little vertical play (less than 1mm), no lateral play and having paid the extra £1.99 for tracked delivery it arrived the next day.

Can't fault it for the money at all.

Been running an X-fusion hilo 27.2 for over a year now. Works pretty well with very little play and has stayed smooth.
