I'm interested too.

Especially external because I don't want to drill holes in my frame.

I think I'd prefer one without a cable at all - do they still make those? Under saddle lever, I think. Or wireless remote.

There are probably some cheap ones available with under lever drop, I think decathlon did one.

But I would go with something like a ks eten (I think it's called)

I think you can either use it with a lever under the saddle or get a kit to make it an external dropper with bar lever.

I've run a ks dropzone under saddle lever on my winter bike for years and it's been great. I like the fact I can change it easily for a normal seat post with out messing with cables.

I have a 27.2 ks thing (i think) underlever thing

Its alright but i don't really use it. Occasionally the lever decides to stay which leads to some hilarious sit down standup grab your crotchal zone repeat until it pings off. ( It doesn't jam just like it slightly goes to far)

I've got a https://www.kssuspension.com/product/eten/ as @joshvegas says, it's a bit fiddly to use so only really worth it if you think you'll want it up/down for long periods. Also quite heavy, but can be picked up quite cheaply. Only ever really used it in anger when I did a team race and we shared a bike.

Then I got this https://www.kssuspension.com/product/lev/ - pretty good overall - light, can be picked up cheaply on ebay, clean external routing, serviceable. Main downside is that the return is pretty weak, and air pressure can only be added by taking it apart a bit and using a needle valve. Still arguably better than most cheap droppers which have fixed chambers I think?

I have a PNW dropper, ( https://www.pnwcomponents.com/collections/27-2-dropper-posts), not under the seat but externally routed. Good return on it and not had any problems so far. They do a drop bar lever if that's what it's for?
