That's pretty much my plan for next year, right there!

I'd like to do the Southerns, QECP night enduro, maybe dabble in a minienduro at some point and maybe a welsh one?

I'd love to have a go at a continental race, such as the enduro2, but finances might not allow for that this year...

Good vid that. But 2017 season's still not finished, have patience!

[url=

(Muckmedden have good taste in riders, this guy is particularily handsome and his bike looks fab...)

Not sure what I'll be doing next year. Kinlochleven enduro if it runs again (which it bloody should, it's awesome), couple of Scottish rounds... I'm thinking Pitfichie and Fort William and maybe Dunoon again. And anything else that looks interesting, maybe PMBA at Kirroughtree.

And the Endurance Downhill! Which isn't really an enduro at all, but I think ought to appeal to a lot of #enduroists. Tickets are on "sale" just now, they're looking for 80 sign-ups before committing so it's a £0 presale. 8th July, can't recommend this one too highly, still the best races I've ever done:

http://www.nofussevents.co.uk/events/endurance-downhill-2017-july-8

I'll be plugging this every couple of weeks for the next few months, deal with it 😉 It needs to go ahead

Holy crap, I didn't look at the entry list. Well I guess 80 will not be a problem!

(stalker mode- are you the Cakerider? I spent a week with Tony, Ben, Pod and Rich out in the alps a couple of years back, good guys!)

All being well...

Full BES series[/*]

PMBA National Champs[/*]

Southern Enduro Champs[/*]

Southwest Gravity Enduro[/*]
Having said that, PMBA National Champs and BES Dyfi are possibly too close together time wise for me so may not do Dyfi, which would be a big shame. May squeeze in a Mini Enduro sometime too!

Of course, this is early days, and money and family commitments may have a larger say in what I can do than what I'd like to think right now!

My plan as a racer is 2 day PMBA at lee quarry & Swinley endure then a mix of Mini's, WGES and Pedalhounds that fit between the Southern Enduro Series

There is more going on nearish to me than I realised (I'm deep South, near Worthing). Anyone like to recommend a series for a 48 year old who isn't very fast down a hill. Would I just be in the way at a Southern Enduro, is Pedalhounds more easy going? Or just do as many as I can afford and hope I pick up some competence along the way?

Pedal hounds definitely a good place to start, but southern series has a sport category too.

Now I’m in Bristol and not London anymore, I finally don’t have to travel for hours to get to races anymore which is amazing. So I’m likely to stay more local, doing some of the mini downhill races this year and early next. Then hopefully:

Full welsh enduro series
Full mini enduro
Select Welsh Gravity enduro
South West Southern Enduro race

And then probably a few others in the south west, if anything interesting pops up in South Wales or the south west, especially at new or more natural venues (i.e Triscombe).

Looking back at previous replies seems likesome decent events to consider across Scotland in 2017.

Also @Phil_H you are not that new to the cakeriders. Plus @Northwind the mentioned cakeriders have another alps jaunt planned for 2017.

Just go full Wigman and race it on a rigid.

(I did it on my hemlock the first year I did it, it did grand, though probably cost me a couple of "laps". Purely coincidentally, it snapped in half the weekend after.)

That did cross my mind but Im getting too old for that soft of thing I reckon. A couple of runs down Fort Bill fair enough, but 6 odd hours? Think I will go FS!

My events are going to be based around when I can/lets see whats on. But I have a few dates reserved in the calendar already.

PMBA, Lee Quarry
Southern Enduro, Okeford
The Ex, Exmoor

Now I've seen the French Enduro series, rd 2 in Raon L'Etape, Vosges. As french enduro's go, its possibly doable in a long w/e. It also doesnt open the trails until Sat, so I wouldnt miss any practise. Trails look fun and of decent length.
Anyone raced at Raon L'Etape before and have any tips on accom?

That's what I thought but it doesn't actually say that I think? Doesn't make any sense for it to actually be free though. I'm expecting to pay for it, put it that way, and I count it as cheap at the price (don't tell Frazer!)

I'm kicking off 2017 with the PMBA Night & Day enduro at Grizedale. I also managed to get an entry for the 'Ardrock in the summer.
I'll be making up the numbers at some of the PMBA series rounds no doubt too.

At the moment I'm in for

Vallelujah
Macavalanche
Ard Moor

On top of that I'll do

Fort William, Laggan, Dunoon and Inners at the SES
Highland Perthshire Enduro if it's on
Fair City Enduro
Red Bull Foxhunt

I heard on Saturday that the Cream O' The Croft festival/ race is no longer happening. Apparently someone has bought a big chunk of land at Comrie and is building a house on it so no more camping there (on that spot at least). A real shame as it was a great event last year.

And then probably a few others in the south west, if anything interesting pops up in South Wales or the south west, especially at new or more natural venues (i.e Triscombe).

I was chatting to one of the Quantocks rangers while I was out riding a few weeks ago and he said they had been asked about an event at Triscombe but they had said no to it, I'm guessing due to all the felling work going on at the moment.

Probably more to do with that ballbag who ran the 'national' there earlier this year & didn't pay them or anyone else, then went bust.

It was hard enough to race there anyway, now there is no chance.

I'm in for the PMBA Nat Champs at Grizedale/Graythwaite. I won't be troubling the top half of the field but the trails at Graythwaite are so good it would be shame not to.

And Ard Rock and Ard Moors.

Maybe also the Edinburgh Half.

Tweedlove and Trans Savoie confirmed. Had planned to do the PMBA National Champs but it clashes with a kid's rugby weekend and ballet show so that won't happen. Also fancied Ard Rock but think it's too close to the Trans Savoie and I don't want to risk injuring myself.

Will try and squeeze in a couple of the Pedalhounds events and the Swinley Enduro and maybe some of the Southern events. QECP Night Enduro sounds fun.

I didn't get an entry to either 'Ard event so of all the events I can justify driving that far to, I'm down to the Lee Quarry PMBA event.

Anyone know of anything Midlands or Yorkshire area?

I keep thinking, a venue somewhere near the Peak or South Yorkshire would be brilliant. I know that joker who buggered off with everyone's money attempted an event in Greno / Warncliffe last year but even that got canned for an alternative venue (before he did a runner) a month or so beforehand. Guess it's the legwork to get a suitable venue found and sorted out with proper access etc. Must be quite a job!

Nice one beano68. I'd not heard of that one before...I'm in! It's actually closer to home than the 'Ard Moors for me. Even better.

There really is more to life than getting entry to an 'Ard event. A heavy cloud of disappointment has been lifted.

managed to get an entry for Ard Moors, not done it yet so looking forward to it. Also doing Pmba Lee quarry, Grizedale and the nat champs. I feel like the bigger events seem to offer more value, one day events being £40-45. the nat champs comes in at £75 for 3 days worth of action, camping and parking included.

Bes entries go live on Dec 1st

Not sure what price will be, no UKE competition now, so will prices be rising?- BES numbers were low last year, do they may have struggled to cover their costs?

Either way December is a crap time to release race tickets, most of my money is spoken for !

One of my mates didn't like the BES seeding format. Basically it removed the "riding with your mates" bit unless you and your mates were all of a similar speed/ time.

Yes and no.
For sure it was too good an opportunity to pass up.

But in all seriousness, its pretty clear that Enduro is still evolving (for better or worse), and from the top down taking itself rather more seriously and professionally.
BES is obviously taking itself quite seriously and actually prioritising the racing rather than providing a glorified lads day out.

This.

I remember riding up behind some dude with dreads at Grizedale last year, and was like "I'm sure I recognise him from STW"..."are you Kimbers from Singletrack?!" 😆

If you do the whole series, you end up riding around and racing with roughly the same people every time, so it's a good way to meet new riders and share your racing balls-ups with!

Yet amazingly the SES manages to provide top notch racing, smooth organisation and yet still deliver a "lads day out". I'll need to tell the girls in our wee gang that it's a lads day and they're not welcome.

@nobeer, i would say hater is a bit harsh. I do actually follow enduro and watch the SES and EWS videos as they come up.

I'd love a go, but as posted on another thread, any events that would be easy enough technically for me (i've never claimed not to be ****) also seem to be so short i'd be done in under 2hrs.
Couple that with the fact most enduroists seem to see crashing as all part of the fun, and pedally stages despised (pretty much the polar opposite of my thoughts) then maybe they are just not for me.

But regardless of all that, i find it hard to criticise a series thats clearly trying hard to make itself the premier UK series for focussing on the racing aspect rather than the social side. Serious racing events are needed for people to progress now that being an EWS rider could actually be a valid career choice for the very best.

I totally appreciate that part of what makes enduro so popular is the social side, which is why i said that how things are evolving may not actually be for the best for many riders.

If i'm going to have a go then Comrie seems like the logical choice

You may be out of luck.

Allegedly a big chunk of land around Comrie has been sold. Land that was previously used for camping. The buyer is planning on building a house on the land. For that reason the race is cancelled. I can get them cancelling the Cream o' The Croft festival but I would have thought they could still run the race.

Unless of course it was the beer tent that was making all the profits 😆

Southern Enduro Series and Champs entries are live this morning.

Was intending on doing the Champs but it's down as April now, in between BES Rnd 1 and PMBA National Champs.

3 races in 4 weekends, around Easter holidays time is not good from a family perspective, so looks like I won't be doing that. 🙁

Entered the Southerns.

Has there been a date change on the Southern Champs? I don't recall it being Easter weekend. Annoying, can't do that as we're away already riding elsewhere that weekend.
