Skinner not going through first time ia pretty much the first hiccup of the track cycling event for GB.

Both girls in the semi's in 2. Feet up and rest, that's another medal banked.

[edit] given the earlier discussion, I'm studying the arty gusset shots with renewed interest (pad shape and profile, honest)

Won the repechage though, good ride from him.

Relegated for dropping down too early when he overtook the 'merkin - he's out ๐Ÿ™

first such technical intervention I can recall in these olympics - there seemed to be more in the London olympics

I hear the Aussies are in full-on "Whinge Mode" about GB cycling, accusing us of coming from nowhere to world beaters in Olympic year. Basically saying we are all dopers, without using the words.

They're gold medal standard at that though, although then Frenchies run them close.

if anyone's trying to find cycling on the BBC red button, I just found it against Beach Volleyball.

I must say despite generally having little interest in track cycling I am really enjoying this series of track competitions. Gladatorial stuff.

Hammer always looks like she's wrestling the bike; almost as if it's too big for her.

I think that's nous rather than ability that's counted there. One for the future......

Trott was not only fast, she looked fast ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

I've done a session at the Newport Velodrome when it first opened so I know how hard it is to do a lap at 40kmh, once, but 65k+ is just ridiculous!! Same as tjagain too, no real interest in track, or road racing, but this is brilliant stuff.

Well that was a sound thrashing of the field by Kenny in that heat!

I know Jess Varnish vs Shane Sutton is old news, but we have the two fastest girls in the world, find a third and we'd have been the ones to beat for the team sprint too. Not getting the points to qualify is looking dafter by the day.

And how do they stop Kenny? That's just totes amazeballs.

why no scoreboard on screen to see how the points change the order?

Strikes me that where the abilities are more mixed, it's more chaotic but also easier to gain a lap in the women's - the number of catches in the pursuit showing that the discrepancy in endurance speed is such that a fast group can catch the back of a slow group within a few hard laps.

I get the feeling Trott's just contesting sprints now for shits and giggles.

Of all the amazing GB cycling achievements of the past 8 years for me Trott is the most impressive rider of them

I'm sure she'll make up for the flag by keeping her hand on her heart during the anthem. (not sure what the problem with the flag is either).
