Hi, first post, sorry if this has been covered but I have an issue with some new equipment and I cannot find any similar topics…..
First up –
2016 Fox 36 Float Factory Fork….. I’m in the process of setting up brand new forks but when I make adjustments to the High Speed Compression dial there are no audible ‘clicks’ as I turn the dial. I cannot even feel the notches to count the clicks unless I physically push the dial downwards into the steerer. Not sure if there are any performance issues yet as bike isn’t fully built but coming from Rockshox Pikes the clicks were very much more positive.
Is this something to worry about?
Next the shock
2016 Fox Float X2 Factory Shock….. Now the high speed adjustments (compression and rebound) on these are carried out with a 6mm allen key and the low speed adjustments are carried out with a 3mm allen key….
The tuning manual has me adjusting the low speed dials to varying settings around 15 clicks from hard. But when I turn the low speed dial (both of them) clockwise to fully tight to begin my adjustments there is a possible issue…. I reach the tight point which I assume is ‘fully tight’ but with a little more pressure they seem to pass through this ‘tight spot’ and continue to allow me to turn the dial clockwise, with more clicks now becoming available…. I’ve not continued to turn these in case this is a problem but wanted to ask if anyone can confirm if this is normal?
Any information/help appreciated as I’m new to Fox gear and I do not want to damage my new kit! SRAM gear was much less hassle!
Cheers, Jimmy
Assuming not bought from a bricks and motor shop? If it was head there first...
Have you tried going the other way with the dials?
Other one call mojo (fox importer and see what they say)
Give Mojo a call, they are super helpful.
Bike is a YT Capra so follow up support is not so readily available.... I was just wondering if people had the same components they could confim 🙂
Mojo is on my hit list for help. I live in the valley next to Cwmcarn so am close enough to pop by. Just need some time away from work!
Just pick the phone up....
Sounds like your forks may be missing the detent ball bearing and/or little spring. This is what provides the clickyness on all Fox products Iv looked at. Will be easy to tell if this is the problem as the ball is located in the cap and easy to remove with an allan key. Better check this before contacting anyone as they are pence to buy and probably less hassle than trying to take/send it back.
The x2 problem sounds more serious though - I had a set of Rockshox Pike forks do this to me recently and it turned out the damper had unscrewed itself and split in 2 pieces.
Might want to not divulge the part where you reached the end of adjustment then pushed on past......
As said above, Mojo have always been super helpful whenever I've contacted them
Call Mojo for a warranty inspection.
